Deep in the old woodland of Elderfern, where ancient trees have stood for centuries and tiny pathways wind between moss-covered roots, lives Woodruff, the woodland’s beloved mapmaker.
More than two hundred years old, Woodruff is a wonderfully jolly fellow with an extraordinary memory and an endless curiosity about the world around him.
He knows Elderfern’s winding paths, secret mushroom groves and forgotten corners better than almost anyone.
For more than one hundred and fifty years, he has shared his little woodland home with his beloved wife, Weisa. Together they have watched generations of Elderfern life unfold, although Woodruff insists there are still plenty of things left to discover.
Never far from his maps, notebooks and well-worn pencils, Woodruff spends his days wandering the woodland, recording not only where the paths lead, but the memories found along the way. His maps are filled with tiny handwritten notes marking places where something wonderful once happened.
To Woodruff, a good map should tell you not only where you are going, but remind you of where you have been.
Handcrafted in our British Columbia studio, Woodruff is nestled within a genuine Pacific oyster shell, finished by hand with our signature gilded edge and suspended from a rich gold ribbon. Naturally irregular in shape, no two shells are ever quite alike, making each Woodruff a one-of-a-kind little heirloom to be treasured for Christmases to come.
