Deep in the old woodland of Elderfern, where mushrooms gather beneath the ferns and the forest floor is soft with moss, lives Tolin, the woodland’s beloved gatherer.
 
You’ll rarely see Tolin without his well-worn basket tucked beneath his arm, filled with mushrooms, berries, herbs and whatever other little treasures the woodland has offered that day. Sweet-natured and caring, he never gathers more than Elderfern can spare and is always the first to leave something lovely on a neighbour’s doorstep.
 
Tolin is also enormously proud of his magnificent beard, which has grown so long that on particularly damp mornings it brushes the forest floor as he strolls along. He tends to it faithfully, although it has been known to return home carrying the occasional twig, leaf or very surprised little bird.
 
At the end of each day, Tolin returns to the little woodland home he shares with his beloved wife, Thymina, to whom he has been deeply devoted for more years than either of them cares to count. The finest treasures from his basket are always saved for her.
 
Tolin believes that the woodland gives generously to those who remember to give generously in return.

Handcrafted in our British Columbia studio, Tolin is nestled within a genuine Pacific oyster shell, finished by hand with our signature gilded edge and suspended from a rich gold ribbon. Naturally irregular in shape, no two shells are ever quite alike, making each Tolin a one-of-a-kind little heirloom to be treasured for Christmases to come.
