Deep in the old woodland of Elderfern, inside the hollowed trunk of one of the forest’s oldest trees, lives a rather interesting fellow named Thicket.
Thicket is a gnome of few words. He can be a little gruff, occasionally grumbly, and is quite content to keep mostly to himself. But beneath that weathered exterior is one of the gentlest hearts in all of Elderfern.
His cozy tree-trunk home has become a haven for stray and lonely woodland creatures. Injured birds, orphaned mice, wandering rabbits and all manner of little souls have found their way to Thicket’s door. He tends to each one with extraordinary tenderness, offering a warm bed, something to eat and, most importantly, a place where they feel loved.
Thicket may prefer the company of animals to a crowded gathering, but he is almost never truly alone.
And throughout Elderfern, every woodland creature knows that if they are ever lost or lonely, they need only look through the trees for the soft candlelight glowing in Thicket’s little window.
When the candle is burning, Thicket is home...and there is always room for one more.

Handcrafted in our British Columbia studio, Thicket is nestled within a genuine Pacific oyster shell, finished by hand with our signature gilded edge and suspended from a rich gold ribbon. Naturally irregular in shape, no two shells are ever quite alike, making each Thicket a one-of-a-kind little heirloom to be treasured for Christmases to come.
