Hello and welcome,

My name is Renee, and I’m the founder and maker behind The Gilded Home. I started this company in 2018 from a deep love for beautiful, unique, and handmade creations, and a desire to surround everyday life with objects that feel meaningful rather than disposable.

For me, gilding is not just about gold. It’s about gilding life itself and choosing to fill our homes and our days with pieces that bring warmth, beauty, and intention. It’s about elevating the ordinary through thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and care.

From the rugged elegance of oyster shells to the smooth, weathered beauty of sea glass and the timeless warmth of wood, the natural world is a constant source of inspiration for me. I’m equally drawn to history — antique and vintage textiles, the intricate art of weaving and embroidery, and the nostalgic charm of antique, vintage, and retro illustrations and artwork. These elements inform every collection and quietly shape the soul of The Gilded Home.

All of our pieces are handmade in my studio in beautiful British Columbia, Canada, using mostly natural materials sourced locally within Canada. The few exceptions are select European vintage and antique textiles, which are chosen with great care, each carrying its own rich history. I never bring oyster shells or other natural materials from abroad, ensuring every piece reflects the heart and heritage of Western Canada.

The Gilded Home is rooted in the philosophy of slow decor, purchasing less, but choosing pieces that matter. Objects meant to be used, loved, and kept, not rushed or replaced. When you bring a Gilded Home piece into your space, you’re not simply adding decor. You’re inviting in something made with intention, meant to bring quiet joy and a sense of calm to your everyday life.
